My name is Yoon Sun Shin.
I was born in Seoul, South Korea (S.K.) and earned my B.A. degree in Social Work and started my career working as a teacher at the YMCA in March 1996 to February 1998.
I got married on January 31, 1998 to my husband, Rev. Dr. Seok Jae Jeon, who is a professor of Missiology at Seoul Christian University in Seoul, S.K. Dr. Jeon is a Director of the Korean House of Study and a focus group faculty mentor of the Doctoral of Ministry program, Missional Church and Education for Korean Ministers at United Theological Seminary (United). Currently, Dr. Jeon and I work together to support the Korean House of Study (Korean Master programs) at United.
I worked as a social worker at a Korean middle school from 2007 to 2008.
In 2010, I came back to the U.S., and obtained a M.S. in Education & Allied Professional from the University of Dayton in 2013. I served as a director of the Sunday school and Youth at Dayton Korean Grace Church from 2013 to 2016.
Since June 2014, I have been working as the Director for International Students at United.
I graduated from United with a MDiv in May 2020. I will get a Doctor of Ministry degree which focuses on cross-cultural ministry and spiritual leadership at United in May 2024.
I currently reside in Centerville and have two sons, SungIn who graduated from NYU in January 2020 lives in Korea, SungJun is a senior at Vanderbilt. My family is a global family! My family loves to praise God at Mosaic! I love to sing with my mom, Aekyung Choi yearly and I also like to play with my son, Sung Jun, a violin at the traditional worship at Mosaic church! “Praise the Lord, Praise the Lord, my soul. I will praise the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.” (Psalm 146:1-2).
